  • Analysis on the Hearing Test Results for Patients with Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media

【Abstract】 Objective To learn the audiological characteristics of chronic suppurative otitis media patients. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the audiologic data of 382 patients diagnosed with chronic suppurative otitis media treated in our hospital from August 2005 to December 2008. Results The number of male chronic suppurative otitis media patients was more than female patients, and single ear infections are more than infections of both ears. The onset of the disease could be at any age. Most of the patients had a moderate conductive hearing loss. All kinds of tympanogram were found, and ear canal volume of the patients was enlarged. Conclusion Chronic suppurative otitis media is a common disease of the ear, which needs timely treatment, and audiological tests are important in guiding treatment plans and assessing prognosis.

  • Progress in the study of programmed cell death in acute pancreatitis

ObjectiveTo understand the current progress of programmed cell death in the pathogenesis of acute pancreatitis, and to provide reference for the pathogenesis and treatment of acute pancreatitis.MethodThe research progress of acute pancreatitis and programmed cell death in recent years was reviewed by reading relevant literatures at home and abroad in recent years.ResultsProgrammed cell death was defined as controlled cell death performed by intracellular procedures, including apoptosis, autophagy, programmed necrosis, and coronation. The pattern of death of pancreatic acinar cells mainly includes apoptosis and programmed necrosis. Although the pathogenesis of acute pancreatitis had not yet been fully clarified, it was known that through the study of programmed cell death, it could help us to understand the pathogenesis and pathogenesis of acute pancreatitis and provide more effective treatment methods.ConclusionsProgrammed cell death is very important for acute pancreatitis. The mechanism of programmed cell death in acute pancreatitis is necessary for the treatment and prevention of it.

  • Design of flexible wearable sensing systems

The aging population and the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases in the elderly have brought a significant economic burden to families and society. The non-invasive wearable sensing system can continuously and real-time monitor important physiological signs of the human body and evaluate health status. In addition, it can provide efficient and convenient information feedback, thereby reducing the health risks caused by chronic diseases in the elderly. A wearable system for detecting physiological and behavioral signals was developed in this study. We explored the design of flexible wearable sensing technology and its application in sensing systems. The wearable system included smart hats, smart clothes, smart gloves, and smart insoles, achieving long-term continuous monitoring of physiological and motion signals. The performance of the system was verified, and the new sensing system was compared with commercial equipment. The evaluation results demonstrated that the proposed system presented a comparable performance with the existing system. In summary, the proposed flexible sensor system provides an accurate, detachable, expandable, user-friendly and comfortable solution for physiological and motion signal monitoring. It is expected to be used in remote healthcare monitoring and provide personalized information monitoring, disease prediction, and diagnosis for doctors/patients.

  • Interpretation of 2022 edition of Wound Infection in Clinical Practice: Principles of Best Practice

Wound infection can prolong wound healing time, increase hospitalization cycle and readmission rate, seriously affect patients’ quality of life and increase economic expenditure. Timely and accurate identification and management of wound infections is key to promoting wound healing and maximizing cost-effective management. In 2022, the International Wound Infection Association published the third edition of Wound Infection in Clinical Practice: Principles of Best Practice. The consensus incorporates new advances in research and clinical practice in the areas of wound environment, risk factors for infection, biofilms, antibiotic resistance, and the identification and management of wound infections, and provides detailed approaches to infection assessment and management. This article introduces the key elements of the 2022 expert consensus and interprets the updated content to help healthcare professionals, patients, caregivers, and policy makers understand the latest consensus document, promote its clinical application in the prevention and treatment of wound infection, and better improve the quality of clinical practice.

  • An investigation of the sources of evidence of the clinical pathways in China

ObjectivesTo investigate sources of evidence of the clinical pathways approved by the Chinese government.MethodsThe approved clinical pathways were obtained from the website of the National Health and Family Planning Commission. Two reviewers independently extracted the basic information, approval date, types of evidence of the clinical pathways and time of evidence. The variance analysis was performed for the diagnosis and treatment parts of clinical pathways and the LSD method was further used for comparison.ResultsThe main types of evidence were guidelines, textbooks, standard indicators and consensus views. Approximately 80% of the pathways cited clinical practice guidelines and 36% cited the textbooks. The median number of evidence for each clinical pathway was 2. Approximately 85% of the evidence could be obtained the time when the evidence published. The average time interval (between the time when the pathways released and the time when the evidence published) was 5.2 years. Specifically, textbooks constituted the largest proportion in all evidence that was over 15 years of time interval. In addition to the textbook comparison standard indicators, there were significant differences in time interval between guidelines or consensus and textbooks or standard indicators. Conclusions The evidence types selection is based on the concept of evidence-based medicine, yet the time span of the referred evidence is larger. Therefore, developing clinical pathways not only need to refer to the latest research evidence comprehensively and enhance transparency of clinical pathways, but also use evidence quality evaluation standards to evaluate and select the referred evidences.
